Professional and Compassionate Medical Care
At Diamond Behavioral Health, we will ensure each patient is medically safe and stable while attending Residential Care. We have 24/7 medical staff available to accommodate each individuals needs, including care from a Doctor, Psychiatrist, Advance Practice Nurse Practitioners, and additional medical and nursing staff. For patients who may need assistance, We provide tapers from narcotics and substances, and can prescribe additional comfort medications to ensure the patient is both comfortable and safe. Upon arrival, we will seek to stabilize the individual to ensure that clinical care can be of maximum benefit. During the stabilization phase, our patients are encouraged to attend residential programming if they can participate, but this is not mandatory, as we know during this stage of mental health treatment, a lot of patients are adjusting to the program and preparing themselves internally for treatment, and acclimating to the setting. During stabilization, patients will meet with their case manager, the concierge team, and their primary therapist, and be evaluated by our multidisciplinary team. We will begin making an individualized treatment program to assess and provide care for all of their needs for the entirety of their stay with us
Residential Treatment
Residential Treatment begins immediately after stabilization, and is when patients will begin working through their treatment plan. During this time, patients will be attending a mixture of individual sessions- multiple weekly- with their primary therapist, the psychiatric care team, the medical team, their case manager, and the concierge team. They will additionally have daily group therapies with their primary therapist. Our therapists are matched to patients based on their individual needs, and our clinicians always work with small caseloads. There will be additional process groups and lectures throughout the clinical day, discussing different topics surrounding mental health, education on symptoms, expansion of coping skills, understanding triggers, utilizing existing support systems, and creating robust family dynamics conducive to healing. Our goal is to provide increased awareness and education in all aspects of mental health disorders, as well as begin developing coping skills and tools to increase confidence and quality of life in a supportive environment. During this time, we can facilitate family therapy sessions as well as visitation. Supportive loved ones may be kept appraised on how a patient is progressing, so long as a release of information has been signed. Additionally, the treatment team will begin assessing and determining the appropriate steps for aftercare.
Treatment Setting
Our Philosophy at Diamond Behavioral Health is that during the day, you are our patient; receiving the highest quality multidisciplinary care available in a residential setting. In the evening, you are our guest. We provide a range of amenities and activities outside of clinical hours to ensure patients are enjoying their stay, and experiencing happiness and community during this phase of recovery. We have exercise equipment, nutritious chef crafted meals, lounge areas, movie and game rooms, as well as outdoor space for patients to bond and experience a sense of community. On the weekends, we take patients for outings so they can get a break from a residential treatment setting for a prolonged period of time. Outings are often determined by the staff and patients cohesively depending on the weather, local activities, and desires of the patients. We have found that patients typically have a better treatment outcome when they are treated as individuals. Unlike a hospital setting, where you sleep in a gurney behind a curtain, we do not create an environment where people feel they are being punished when asking for help. We pride ourselves on fostering a comfortable and peaceful space for this extremely important period of time. We have comfortable beds and furniture, high quality linens, and full laundry and housekeeping services onsite. Meals are nutritional satiating and dietary needs can be met upon request. We additionally have dieticians and exercise equipment for patient use during the course of the episode of care.
Concierge, Case Management and Discharge Planning
We employ professional staff to ensure that during your time with us, your life at home continues uninterrupted. We can assist with filing for a leave of absence from work, family medical leave, short term disability, protected leave from work via the Americans with Disabilities Act, as well as medical withdrawals from school semesters. Our case management and concierge team will additionally assist to ensure your insurance remains active and is covering you during your stay with us, as applicable. If you have any ongoing medical or legal obligations, we will ensure they are handled appropriately while here, either by providing transportation or assisting with virtual appearance or postponing while under care. We have found that these circumstances are often an obstacle to making the decision to receive help, but have also found that with the right support, all of these logistics are often navigable so that you may focus solely on your recovery when you need it most. Prior to discharging from care, this team will ensure your plans for continued care are already in place, and fit your life circumstances and scheduling needs. Case Management will ensure all of your items are in your possession upon discharge. We have found patients who attend aftercare report substantially better outcomes upon discharge more often and for longer periods of time than those who do not.
Co-Occuring Treatment
In our professional, collective experience, we have found that it is extremely prevalent for patients struggling with mental health issues to additionally struggle with co-occuring disorders. Oftentimes, disordered eating, codependent relationships, inability to enforce healthy boundaries with family, work, finances, or hobbies, substance abuse issues, or inability to manage daily living responsibilities. We have also found that treating mental health without address co-occuring issues often leads to lapses in recovery for both.
