Diamond Behavioral Health | Serving Florida & Surrounding Communities
One of the biggest reasons people put off getting mental health treatment isn’t fear, and it isn’t stigma — it’s a simple, practical question: “Will my insurance cover this?”
The answer, for most people, is yes. And at Diamond Behavioral Health, we’ve made it our mission to take the guesswork out of getting care. We work with most major private insurance providers so that the only thing standing between you and feeling better is a single phone call.
What Does My Insurance Actually Cover at Diamond Behavioral Health?
Coverage varies by plan, but most private insurance plans cover some or all of the following services at Diamond Behavioral Health:
Outpatient therapy (individual) — Regular one-on-one sessions with a licensed therapist for depression, anxiety, trauma, PTSD, and more.
Group therapy — Structured therapy in a group setting, often used in substance use recovery and mood disorder treatment.
Psychiatric evaluation and medication management — Evaluation by a licensed psychiatrist and ongoing management of psychiatric medications.
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) — A higher level of care than standard therapy, designed for those who need more support without a residential stay.
Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP) — Day treatment programs for those stepping down from inpatient care or needing intensive daily support.
Substance use disorder treatment — Comprehensive care for addiction, including individual counseling, group therapy, and medication-assisted treatment where appropriate.
Telehealth services — Virtual therapy and psychiatric appointments for those who prefer remote access to care.
Mental Health Coverage Is the Law — Not a Luxury
Before we get into the specific plans we accept, it’s worth knowing this: you have legal protections when it comes to mental health coverage.
Under the Affordable Care Act (ACA), all marketplace health plans are required to cover mental health and substance use disorder services as an essential health benefit. And under the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act, insurance companies must cover mental health, behavioral health, and substance use disorders the same way they cover physical health conditions — meaning your copay for therapy cannot legally exceed what you’d pay for a standard specialist visit under the same plan.
Starting January 1, 2026, insurance plans must also cover medically necessary treatment without limiting chronic mental health conditions to short-term acute care only — a significant win for anyone in ongoing therapy or long-term treatment.
In plain terms: if you have insurance, mental health treatment is almost certainly covered. The question is just which provider you see.
A few Insurance Plans Accepted at Diamond Behavioral Health
We proudly accept the following private insurance plans. If you see your plan on this list, you can begin treatment with little to no financial barrier standing in your way.
1. Aetna Aetna has invested heavily in behavioral health and offers strong $0 copay options on many plans, along with robust telehealth integration. Individual therapy, group therapy, psychiatric services, and substance use treatment are all covered under most Aetna plans.
2. Cigna / Evernorth Cigna’s behavioral health benefits — administered through Evernorth Behavioral Health — cover individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy, and substance use disorder treatment. Cigna also covers various levels of care including routine outpatient, intensive outpatient programs (IOP), and partial hospitalization.
3. UnitedHealthcare (UHC) UnitedHealthcare maintains a vast network of mental and behavioral health specialists and promotes integrated care by coordinating mental health treatment with primary care. Most UHC plans cover therapy, psychiatry, and substance use treatment.
4. Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) BCBS consistently ranks among the top insurers for mental health coverage because of its unmatched network breadth — giving patients the most options for finding an in-network therapist who is actively accepting new patients.
